Happy Monday afternoon and welcome to summer. I can’t believe Summer Solstice was yesterday, I’ve completely lost track of the days this month! Time just ticks on by.
Oh what a segue, hmmm. Well, I just have to talk about this amazing antique trench watch from Elgin. This is a lovely women’s watch manufactured in 1914 that still keeps time. The gold case is exquisite and the face is elegant. I think it could be worn on the wrist, as intended or perhaps an a gold chain as a pendant. It’s quite a unique piece of antique jewelry. It’s seems a shame to just have it out on display.
I’d love your thoughts on how you see this piece being worn.
And for a quick bit of trench watch history, here’s what Wikipedia has to say:
“From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The trench watch (wristlet) is a type of watch that came into use by the military during World War I, as pocket watches were not practical in combat. It was a transitional design between pocket watches and wristwatches, incorporating features of both.[1][2][3][4]“
